What is Reiki Therapy and what is Karuna Reiki Therapy?

‘Rei’ means spirit or universal. ‘Ki’ means life force energy. Reiki therapists are channels for Divine Life Force energy. Reiki is an ancient hands-on healing technique, where the hands are placed gently on or just above the body; it is not a form of massage. It is given through the clothing and is a safe, natural energy therapy. ​It compliments other forms of therapy and will enhance their effectiveness. Karuna Reiki is a type of Reiki where the therapist channels Divine Love and Compassion.

Reiki and Karuna Reiki charges the body’s energy field with positive energy, raising the vibratory level and clearing away negative thoughts and feelings.

Both therapies gently re-align, cleanse and heal the energy pathways in and around the body, allowing the life force to flow freely and naturally through and around the body. Karuna Reiki is also highly beneficial for emotional issues, grief, trauma, heartache and past abuse.

What happens during the therapy?

After discussing your medical history, you will lie down, removing only your shoes, and the therapist will ensure that you are warm and comfortable.  

The therapy will involve the therapist laying their hands gently on your body (or they may work in the energy field around your body), to assist in re-balancing the energies in your body.

​​You may experience some physical sensations such as tingling or heat whilst the therapist’s hands are in place. This is perfectly normal. The therapy session will usually last about one hour.
